This page contains an introductory guide,  Rowing Basics, links to a number of sites that provide those that are new to the sport of rowing a good understanding and foundation.  We recommend that all Fairfax High School students and parents participating in the FHS Crew Program read Rowing Basics.

 

 

 

This introductory guide to the sport of rowing was compiled by the Fairfax High School Crew Boosters organization. The guide gives students and parents a good understanding rowing.  In addition to the individual web pages that make up the sections of the guide, you can download an acrobat file for viewing or printing.

  Technical Information

Has good rowing material across a spectrum of topics including FAQ, coxing, and training.  The site is maintained by the Linacre Boat Club in the UK.

 

  Physiology of Rowing

Contains a series or rowing articles on "The Physics and Physiology of Rowing."  Site maintained Stephen Seiler, an enthusiast for endurance sports  and an exercise physiologist with an great interest the physiology of performance.
